Creative, or art therapy is a great, natural tool to access, express, and work through emotional difficulties. Clients generally experience it as more gentle and less intimidating than sitting face to face with someone and talking. It also engages your creative problem-solving brain! You do not have to be good at art. In fact, the more spontaneous, the more authentic your expression. You also do not have to engage with art making. Creative therapists are trained in talking as well as in creative therapies. During sessions you can experiment with both or stick to one.

Intuition, creativity and emotions all live in the same part of your brain. Tapping into your creativity enables you to intuitively access feelings and experiences you might otherwise find hard to access and - at your pace - build new understanding, connections and resolutions. Art forms that are typically included are painting, drawing, clay, collage, sand tray, writing/poetry, drama, bodywork, music, or anything you like to bring in.If you are curious about using this resource that is in us all, do give creative therapy a try. It can be amazingly rewarding.
