Surgical Gastric Band, Balloon and Bypass operations are becoming increasingly popular amongst people who struggle with their weight. Usually, your stomach will look as it does in the picture on the left, but during Gastric Band surgery, an inflatable band is secured around the top part of your stomach. Air is then pumped into the gastric band, causing it to inflate, tighten and squeeze around the top part of your stomach as in the picture on the right.
